Freeze-dried and fresh pet food have differences in their production processes and characteristics. 

• The freeze-drying process preserves the natural nutrients of the ingredients, making it a nutritionally dense option for pets. Fresh pet food retains large percentage of natural nutrients of the ingredients but may degrade over time due to exposure to air and light.
• Freeze-dried pet food has a longer shelf life compared to fresh pet food because the removal of moisture inhibits the growth of bacteria and molds. Fresh pet food has a shorter shelf life and typically needs to be refrigerated or frozen to prevent spoilage.

 It’s also worth noting that, fresh dog food isn’t fresh unless it’s prepared in your kitchen.  Commercial fresh pet food are those food that's gently cooked (versus subject to several rounds of high-heat processing, which is typically how dry pet food/ kibbles are made) and the are pasteurised.

We test all our finished goods as well as our raw materials to deliver proper nutrition and to ensure food safety. We are BRC and DG-Health European Commission audited We also audit our suppliers to ensure our high-quality standards are met even before our manufacturing process begins. Since we use freeze drying to make our food (Nature’s Kitchen range), we are not required to utilize higher levels of carbohydrates. When kibble is extruded, the process requires carbohydrates (mainly starches) to help form and expand the kibble. Others may be using high levels carbohydrates because it is less expensive than the fat and protein sources they are using in their formulas.

No. Corn and soy are the most common sources of GMOs and neither of them are found in our products.

No. All the meat ingredients we select for our products are raised without the use of antibiotics and growth hormones. Additionally, Federal regulations prohibit the use of hormones in poultry.

Freeze-drying acts as a natural preservative for the food as the moisture that causes bacterial growth and degradation is removed. We also add in a small amount of mixed tocopherols (a natural preservative and source of vitamin E). While our product retains its full nutritional values at two years, we suggest that the products are “best if used within 18 months.”
